FORMAL NOTIFICATION:

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we regret to advise the Road Traffic Accident Trauma Charitable Trust trading as National Road Trauma Centre the New Zealand Road Safety Emergency Response and Healthcare Awards ceremony will not take place as planned on Friday, 26 November, but will be postponed to early 2022. This decision was made by the Trust Board (and confirmed by the New Zealand Road Safety Emergency Response and Healthcare Awards Executive Committee) and is due to the very dynamic spread of the Covid-19 virus in New Zealand and the current event restrictions put in place that make it difficult for us to secure a viable event.

This has been a hard decision for us as our annual events have been deemed at the heart of what we do and one of the strongest activities that we provide to the community. The ethos behind the Awards is nga tāngata (the people), meaning the people and its surrounded community are at the forefront of what we do and this dedication to community engagement is part of our heritage.

Our commitment as a charitable organisation informs everything we do — from how we invest our time and service offerings to how we engage with our people and communities. We endeavour to work with the original Awards program as far as possible but additionally we will look at ways on how we can improve our engagement and make it more relevant and meaningful for the evolving challenges of today’s Covid-19 social, environmental, and business landscape.

Please note that the New Zealand Road Safety Emergency Response and Healthcare Awards are not cancelled but postponed. We plan to work to the Government’s Covid-19 event guidelines along with the community and stakeholders to find a suitable date for rescheduling these events.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact our Board Chair, Werner Pretorius at Werner.Pretorius@aecom.com or Awards Chair, Emeritus Prof Alan Nicholson alan.nicholson@canterbury.ac.nz.

On behalf of our Board Chair and the Trust we thank you for your understanding. We thank you for your understanding for this difficult decision.
